We believe that each of our sound and sincere corporate activities will lead to the realization of a peaceful and solid society.

We were founded in 1928 by the first president, Kunitaro Shimada, as a manufacturer of marine lighting equipment including navigation lights, and was incorporated in 1952. After that, with the change of business and expansion of operations, we deal with a wide range of marine equipment and supplies, mainly legal equipment and legal ship's stores. SDGs Goal

The SDGs are international goals for a sustainable and better world by 2030, adopted unanimously by member countries at the UN Summit in September 2015.

It consists of 17 goals and 169 targets, and aims to address global issues such as poverty and inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, prosperity, peace and justice.

The SDGs are universal not only for developing countries, but also for all industrialized countries, and Japan is actively involved in the SDGs.

HISTORY

1928

 Founded under the name of Shimada Tohki Seisakusho by Kunitaro Shimada

1952

Changed to corporate organization ‘ Shimada & Co.,Ltd.’

1966

Established a service station of inflatable liferaft. 

Tsutomu Shimada was appointed president

1969

Established Tokyo sales office 

Separated the inspection division of inflatable liferaft, and founded Nishi-Nippon Fujikura  Co., Ltd. 

1971

Changed Tokyo sales office to Tokyo branch office. 

1976

Nishi-Nippon Fujikura Co., Ltd. was authorized as a service station of inflatable liferaft by Kinki District Transport Bureau.

1977

Tokyo branch office was authorized as a service station of inflatable. 

1979

Nishi-Nippon Fujikura Co., Ltd  was certified as a service station for marine evacuation system (chute) that is made by Fujikura Rubber Ltd. 

(currently FUJIKURA   COMPOSITES Inc.)

1981

Established Sapporo sales office.

1985

Launched ship  supply in all over regions.

1986

Launched ship supply for ocean-going vessels in Japan. 

1991

Nishi-Nippon Fujikura obtained a sales license of pharmaceuticals by Osaka Prefecture. 

1992

Developed and launched performance tester for GMDSS life-saving equipment with maker.   

Nishi-Nippon Fujikura was certified as a GMDSS life-saving equipment service station by Kinki District Transport Bureau. 

1993

Tokyo branch office was certified as a GMDSS life-saving equipment service station. 

1995

Research and development of leak tester for inflatable liferaft  *

1997

Research and development of Air injection automatic on/off device for leak tester for inflatable liferaft. *

Nishi-Nippon Fujikura was certified as a service station of GMDSS navigational equipment and navigational radar equipment by Kinki District Transport Bureau 

2000

Nishi-Nippon Fujikura took over the production department, equipment and personnel of tester for GMDSS lifesaving equipment from Sentech Co., Ltd. 
Developed and commercialized portable performance tester for GMDSS life-saving equipment.

2001

Research and development of emergency luminous film.
Research and development of desalinator. * 

2005

Development and commercialized rigid inflatable rescue boat “SS-A” 

2006

Managing Director Tsutomu Shimada receives an award ‘the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays’
Masashi Shimada was appointed as president.

2012

Shimada & Co., Ltd and Nishi-Nippon Fujikura Co., Ltd were ISO 9001 certified. 

Received Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism commendation for meritorious services related to maritime matters on Marine Day.

2019

Nishi-Nippon Fujikura Co., Ltd was certified as a service station of lifeboat and davit by Panama, Liberia, and Nippon Kaiji Kyokai. 

Started SDGs initiatives. 

Nishi-Nippon Fujikura Co., Ltd. was certified as a lifeboat and davit service station by Bahamas Classification.

2020

Development and commercialized of digital pressure gauge SLT-301.
